The successful candidate will be expected to execute control system design and documentation and support the development of hydrogen fueling stations. You will work with a team of engineers, software programmers, technicians, and fabricators to develop new products and improve our existing hydrogen fueling stations. You will be largely involved in engineering design, process improvements, testing, quality control, and optimization.
* Execute electrical and control design of hydrogen refueling equipment (including electrical schematics, single line diagrams, cable schedules etc.)
* Responsible for executing PLC and HMI programming for hydrogen refueling equipment. process engineering experience; technical support experience an asset as well.
- Actively research and contribute in HAZOP studies.
- Size and specify instrumentation, control valves and PLC/HMI hardware.
- Support factory acceptance testing at Powertech.
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives and hardware revisions based on market availability
- Actively participate in field commissioning work which includes travel to customer sites, start-up work, trouble shooting instrumentation & control issues.
* Provide technical input to technicians and electricians involved in the construction and testing of the hydrogen fueling stations.
* Independently analyze and design hydrogen fueling station control systems to meet customer requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and document standardized processes and technical procedures. Able to apply pro-active approach to sourcing of project materials and components.
* Provide customer support for new and existing hydrogen stations. This may involve remote support or travel to customer sites.

* Contribute to quality, safety and maintenance improvements in the lab while ensuring all equipment are maintained properly.
* Exercise independent judgment to solve complex problems that have an impact across sectors and include customers, technology, financial planning and staffing.
Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
* Registration (or ability to immediately register) as a professional engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (i.e., non-British Columbia registrations are acceptable as long as there is an ability to immediately transfer the accreditation).
* Minimum three (3) years of experience in an industrial controls design and programming environment with a strong familiarity in the following areas:
- Industrial automation.
- Electrical controls systems, motor control circuit, and cabinet design.
- PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley / Rockwell)
- Instrumentation specifications and troubleshooting.
- Hazardous area electrical installations.
- AutoCAD design.
- Proficient with relevant codes and standards (CSA C22.1, NFPA 70, NFPA 79).
- Working knowledge of IEC standards.
- Experience in the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and process controls.
- Hydrogen or other high pressure gas experience is desired. Process engineering and technical support experience would be an asset.
Additional competencies :
* Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
* Project engineering experience and ability to monitor, own and execute technical projects from initiation to completion phase all technical, resource and financial aspects.
* Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and co-workers.
* Be able to work under pressure and multitask to deliver high quality outcome. Process engineering and technical support experience would be an asset.
