THE OPPORTUNITY

The Development Manager role consists of ensuring land is suitable for development and obtaining all development approvals within municipalities and other authorities having jurisdiction. This position will report to our VP, Development. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Engage consulting firms and correspond with authorities having jurisdiction on all items related to planning, design, environmental, legal, and municipal requirements to ensure land is suitable for development.
  • Take projects through the approvals process and obtain all necessary development approvals.
  • Respond to any public inquiries about the potential development. Present at council meetings and public meetings as required.
  • Manage all development and building permit approval timelines.
  • Prepare and manage soft cost budgets.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Highstreet is looking for a highly motivated individual who is willing to learn and grow with a company that values culture and performance. In addition to identifying with Highstreet's values, the candidate should also:

  • Have post-secondary education in urban planning, building technology or project management.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing planning approvals.
  • Communicate openly and ethically with a positive attitude.
  • Be detail orientated, a problem solver, and creative thinker.
  • Be a team player and self-motivated.
  • Be highly organized and enjoy managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong computer skills including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Previous experience using AutoCAD and a project management software is an asset.

Additional requirements:

  • Be available for travel, as required.
  • Satisfactory criminal and credit record check.
