Director, Global HR (Financial Services)

Polar Asset Management Partners is a leading global multi-strategy asset manager with $7B assets
under management. With teams based across Canada, Europe and The United States, we work together
to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns for our investors.

Our team is looking for a highly-motivated Director, Global HR to support our dynamic and fast-paced
Talent team. You'll be part of a four person HR team, reporting to our Head of Talent.

What you will do:

Oversee and continuously improve our HR operations; you will be responsible for ensuring
every touch point of our employee lifecycle, from recruitment to employee departure, drives
value for our business and our employees. You will take ownership of our HR programs and
focus on their continuous improvement, including reviewing benefit offerings and the
onboarding process. You will be involved in our performance management process and support
managers with feedback delivery throughout the year. You will make strategic improvements in
our HR operations to drive efficiency and flexibility for employees within the company.
Ensure global legal and HR compliance; operating out of multiple locations where we are
required to fulfill different legislative requirements. You will be up to date on each jurisdiction
to ensure we are in compliance with all the employment legislation requirements for each
office. You'll also be required to continuously analyze and evaluate what is needed as we hire
employees in locations where we may not be currently operating. This includes creating and
updating employee handbooks and policies for each of our locations.
Support our high-performance culture; you will help develop engaging and inclusive initiatives
which help us maintain our performance and growth oriented culture and create opportunities
for learning and relationship building across our organization.
Introduce and maintain HR analytics; you will implement sophisticated analytics to identify
trends and insight to help support our strategic HR decision-making. These analytics will help
provide rationale for decisions made within the Talent Team, with the business strategy at the
forefront. You have a natural propensity towards data and using qualitative assessments to
evaluate and measure program effectiveness.
Manage an HR associate; you will be directly responsible for managing one of our HR team
members. They will be there to support you in your initiatives as well as other work for the
broader HR team. You will exemplify great management habits by empowering this team
member, aligning their work to their strengths, and ensuring they continue to learn and grow.

About you:

You are excited to come into the office 3-5 days a week in downtown Toronto. As a senior HR
leader within the firm, you understand the value of being onsite with our team. Depending on
the volume of work, you know when to work flexibility into your schedule and how to best
accommodate the needs of the team and business.

Service oriented, director-level thinker, with a willingness to be hands-on everyday. As a small
and highly effective HR team, you'll constantly be thinking at a director level, and also rolling up
your sleeves to get the work done. While the HR associate is able to assist you, there will be
days where you are doing administrative work for yourself and the team because it's required to
move things forward. You view HR from a service-orientation perspective and are willing to do
what it takes to get things done.
Practical entrepreneurial thinker. while our work is in a highly regulated and sophisticated
industry, our growing company has been successful due to its entrepreneurial nature. As you
build HR solutions, you will quickly figure out what to prioritize, what can wait, what needs to be
flawless and what is good enough. You will frequently be facing challenges and problems where
the solutions require you to create the blueprint for resolution.
Meticulous and detail-oriented. with so much happening on a daily basis you will support the
Head of Talent by slowing down to focus on the items that require detailed attention. This
means bringing another set of eyes to things like contracts and projects that require the utmost
attention to even the smallest details.
Experienced in global HR. you've worked in an HR role that requires a global lens. Not only for
creating HR solutions that support global teams, but experience in working with experts in
setting up legal and contractual details in any country. Bonus points if this has been in a talent
driven business or the financial services space.

Why work with us:

Our firm is currently in an exciting time of growth and expansion and this role will play a very important
and visible part in our business. We are a lean HR team that does everything in-house from recruiting to
creating a complex company-wide compensation structure. This role is ideal for someone who wants to
focus on a wide variety of HR elements, be hands-on in creating solutions and work within a
sophisticated, global business environment. There is a tremendous amount of potential and growth with
this senior level role.

Your compensation package will include a base salary of $160k - $175k, plus bonus and ability to
participate in a profit sharing plan. You will begin with 4 weeks vacation, as well as comprehensive
health, dental, vision and wellness benefits. This is a hybrid role (at least 3 days in office) based out of
our downtown Toronto office.
