POSITION: HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

ABOUT BRIKERS

We're fixers - we've been rebuilding heavy equipment components for over 20 years. We dismantle whole equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders and rock trucks on site, rebuild the components to their original specifications, and test them on our in-house test bench. POSITION SUMMARY

This position's primary responsibility is to dismantle heavy equipment, primarily various models of excavators. The Heavy Equipment Dismantler will also be responsible for supporting the dismantle department with other duties as needed. This position is full-time.

Work hours are between Mon - Fri 7:00am - 3:30 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Dismantle excavators and other heavy equipment part by part by first prepping the machine to be dismantled, removing parts, cleaning parts to ensure they aren't broken, putting parts away in proper location for inventory control clerk and advising the lead hand of work completed

· Diagnose malfunctions using testing equipment to determine extent of repairs required.

· Help load and unload incoming/outbound shipments when needed.

· Maintain yard and shop organization with routine cleaning and organizing routines of putting tools and parts away at time of use, moving machines around yard to maximize space and organization, and cleaning the dismantle pad daily

· Record work completed on intranet, including assigning of employee tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Alcohol and drug testing may be required.

· Demonstrates a mechanical aptitude through familiarity with basic tools, and possible ownership of tools

· Able to follow routines and procedures and think independently and logically about next steps

· A valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract; forklift license an asset

· Demonstrates adaptability: willing and able to adjust to shifting priorities, shows resilience in the face of constraints or frustrations, is not knocked off balance by the unexpected

· Capable of lifting heavy objects (30 – 50 pounds) repeatedly with ease

· Able to work effectively outside regardless of the weather and in demanding working conditions that include moderate noise levels, exposure to mechanical parts, sharp metals, power tools, dust and fumes, and the operation of mobile equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds and up to 50 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is exposed to moderate to loud noise environments and will be required to operate various heavy equipment, such as forklifts.
