There is one Part-Time contract Psychologist position available. This position will focus primarily on the completion of comprehensive psychological assessments. The successful candidate will be part of a highly collaborative and supportive small team of psychologists, and professional development experiences are available.

Your Role:

Provides a variety of services to children, adolescents, caregivers, and community agencies, such as assessment, consultation, and individual therapy. Works in partnership with community organizations and agencies such as Family and Children's Services of Waterloo Region, local schools, and other service providers. The primary area of focus will be completion of assessments and consultation regarding children and adolescents with complex needs to inform aspects such as school planning, mental health intervention, or other needed supports. May participate in research and program development. May provide consultation to interdisciplinary live-in and day treatment programs. May provide supervision to psychology trainees. Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at Lutherwood.

Tasks:

Psychological Assessment, Treatment and Consultation:

1. Conducts interviews and carries out observations and documentation reviews to gather information on the history and psychological functioning of the client.
2. Administers, scores and interprets a range of psychological tests.
3. Writes reports of clinical findings, makes diagnoses, predicts risk factors and outcomes, makes recommendations for intervention and treatment to the treatment team, other community agencies, and/or to the Y.C.J.A. courts.
4. Attends meetings to communicate results and recommendations of psychological assessments to clients, caregivers, and other involved service providers.
5. Serves as a consulting member of the treatment team for live-in or day treatment programs.
6. Provides individual therapy to clients
7. Liaises with other agencies also involved with assigned client's treatment needs.
8. Consults with youth justice facilities and probation services regarding the needs of youth involved in with youth justice system.
9. Provides consultation services to other community agencies serving children, adolescents and their families/caregivers.
10. Provides supervision to psychometrists or psychologists registered for supervised practice.
11. Provides supervision to students and predoctoral psychology residents as required.

Research and Evaluation:

1. Incorporates research findings and best practices into methods of psychological assessment and treatment.
2. Consults to agency programs and leadership regarding research, program evaluation, best practices in mental health, and knowledge translation.
3. Conceptualizes research hypotheses, designs research instrument, collects and interprets data and draws conclusions.
4. Arranges publishing of research findings in professional journals.
5. Conducts workshops, lectures and seminars for other professionals both within the Agency and externally.

Administration:

1. Supervises psychology students and residents providing information, resources and guiding their activities.
2. Evaluates the performance of psychology students and residents and prepares/submits written evaluations to relevant training programs.
3. Participates in professional organizations as a representative of the agency to enhance expertise and to research and develop resources available to the agency.
4. Participates in program planning by developing and implementing policies, procedures and program proposals at intervention and administrative levels.
5. Participates in setting and meeting service targets for the programs.
6. Provides various case coordination functions as assigned.
7. Participates in clinical peer consultation meetings with other agency psychologists.
8. Participates in administrative supervision with Clinical Director.

Your Talents and Experience:

A Doctoral degree and registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience working with children and adolescents who are involved with multiple service providers. Experience and registration or eligibility for registration to work with adults as well is an asset but not required. The ability to work within an agency with an interdisciplinary approach. Encouraged to maintain membership within their professional association.

When determining the rate of pay for external hires, a candidates past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience currently fall within the band.
