Position Summary

As a Carpenter you will be responsible for supporting the site supervision team to maintain the progress of both Ventana and sub-trade scopes by completing any required carpentry and labor tasks for the project. You will also need to demonstrate and monitor Ventana's quality and safety programs and help train and mentor less-experienced workers.

Ventana site locations are spread across the Greater Vancouver area so site locations may vary.

As a Carpenter your key accountabilities will involve:

• Perform all on-site carpentry tasks, such as backing, blocking, formwork, and framing.
• Build panels, footings, retaining walls and stairs.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Install doorframes, doors, and hardware.
• Train and mentor apprentices and labourers.
• Supervise small labour crews as assigned.
• Plan timelines and meet deadlines.
• Assist with other site activities such as clean up, concrete work, and demolition.

As a Carpenter your experience and qualifications will include:

• Experience with framing, formwork, finishing.
• Good knowledge of general construction duties - pump set up, use of tools, weather protection, etc.
• Willing to travel to projects located across Greater Vancouver.
• Strong safety mindset and experience in coordination of own safety paperwork.
• Demonstrated ability to adjust to work-related demands.
• OFA II is considered an asset.
• The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced, deadline driven environment
• You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• The ability to build solid long-lasting relationships
• The ability to anticipate problems and solve proactively
• Close attention to detail, are observant
• You have a high degree of professionalism and maturity
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond to problems in a friendly and solution-oriented manner
