Key Responsibilities:
The Manager, Accounting is responsible for overseeing the month-end accounting processes and ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions for select operational units of the Company. This role plays a critical part in managing the month-end close process, reconciling accounts, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity of financial information in the general ledger.
The Manager, Accounting leads planning and execution of integration of acquired companies into the Accounting function, and supports development and implementation of standardized processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and controls and procedure documentation with a shared services mindset. The Manager, Accounting leads a team of accounting professionals and fosters a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Manages the month-end close process for select operational units, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinates with various departments to gather and review financial data, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, and other month-end close deliverables.
  • Implements and maintains effective internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with external auditors during audits to provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Collaborates with the Integration team and business unit finance teams on integration of acquired companies; leads the integration activities for the Accounting function.
  • Drives standardization and process optimization efforts within the Accounting function with a shared services mindset.
  • Ensures improvements in accounting policies and procedures and monitors compliance across the organization.
  • Develops and implements KPIs and KPI reporting for the Accounting function.
  • Supports project delivery including ERP implementation and other automation initiatives, as required.
  • Supervises and mentors a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing feedback to team members.
  • Identifies training needs and coordinates training programs to enhance the team's technical and professional skills.
  • Fosters a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • CPA or equivalent certification in good standing and work experience with a major accounting firm is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in various accounting and finance roles of increasing responsibility and complexity, with specific experience in month-end close processes.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency in using Workday considered an asset.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate financial data.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver change supporting the Company's priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, including managing and coordinating tasks and project plans.
  • Acquisition and integration experience would be considered an asset.
