About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Maintenance Mechanic / Millwright to join an established manufacturing facility in Markham.
This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting challenging mechanical problems, repairing machinery and fabricating practical solutions. Much of the facility's equipment is older and has been modified over time, so strong mechanical knowledge and resourcefulness are essential.
You will initially work alongside the current Millwright to learn the machinery, equipment modifications and maintenance requirements, gradually assuming greater responsibility for plant maintenance. This knowledge transfer provides a valuable opportunity to build a thorough understanding of the facility's specialized equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair CNC equipment, machining equipment and other industrial production machinery.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical problems.
  • Maintain older and modified machinery, including equipment with limited documentation or replacement parts.
  • Fabricate, repair and modify components and mechanical assemblies to keep equipment operating safely and reliably.
  • Install, align, disassemble, repair, reassemble and test mechanical equipment.
  • Repair and replace components such as pumps, motors, bearings and mechanical power transmission systems.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to equipment reliability and maintenance procedures.
  • Support other maintenance personnel and assist with maintenance planning and equipment improvement projects.
  • Learn and document equipment knowledge alongside the current Millwright during the transition period.
What You Bring
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial maintenance / Millwright experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing industrial machinery independently.
  • Proven experience maintaining older, modified or custom equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fabrication skills, including the ability to repair or adapt components when replacements are unavailable.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and mechanical diagrams.
  • Strong preventive maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with the maintenance team.
  • Willingness to learn the facility's equipment and participate in hands-on knowledge transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ontario 433A Industrial Millwright license and/or Red Seal certification.
  • Maintenance experience in automotive, aerospace, tool and die, tool rooms or precision machine shops.
  • Experience maintaining CNC mills, lathes and specialized manufacturing machinery.
  • Welding experience, including MIG, gas or electrode welding.
  • Experience guiding maintenance personnel and coordinating repair activities.
If you bring strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and enjoy finding practical solutions to keep industrial machinery running, we would like to hear from you. Apply today.
