The RoleAs a Senior Mechanical Project Manager you will be the single point of contact for our general contractor and owner partners, and the person our foremen rely on to have the right plan and the right materials in place. You will manage major commercial, institutional, healthcare and recreational projects across Alberta and Yukon, working with a strong team of experienced project managers, with support from our leadership.
What you will do• Manage major mechanical projects (plumbing, mechanical piping and sheet metal/HVAC) from kickoff through commissioning and warranty, on time, on budget and safely
• Own material takeoffs, procurement and prefab coordination so crews can install without waiting
• Manage budgets, forecasts, change orders and progress billings
• Build strong relationships with general contractors, consultants and owners, including on design-build and IPD projects
• Support and coordinate working foremen and crews, with about three site visits a month
• Use our project management and VDC/BIM tools to keep every project organized and on track
What You Bring• 5+ years of commercial/ICI mechanical contracting experience (10+ years is our ideal)
• Hands-on knowledge of plumbing, mechanical piping and/or HVAC systems, and the parts and equipment that go into them
• Project management experience: scheduling, cost control, risk management and client communication
• Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to work with different personalities, from the field to the owner
• A willingness to learn our systems, our way of working and our team
• Based in Camrose, or willing to relocate
Ideal backgroundsJourneyman plumber (or other mechanical trade) with foreman or superintendent experience and some project management exposure, ready to step fully into a project management role. Or an engineer, technologist or industry professional with 5–10 years of Mechanical contracting or engineering experience who is a great communicator and a fast learner. We are happy to develop the right person.
AssetsJourneyman certification, CET, PMP or similar; post-secondary education in mechanical engineering, construction management or a related field; experience with VDC, Revit, CAD, digital layout or prefabrication; design-build or IPD experience.
