Pay rate: 90-95/hr incorp
Scope of Work & Responsibilities
- User-Centered Design: Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for web and mobile applications, digital displays, and publications.
- End-to-End User Research: Conceive, manage, and conduct user research—including recruiting, interviews, surveys, and feedback gathering—and synthesize findings into sitemaps, user flows, and customer journey maps.
- Prototyping & Iteration: Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, mockups, and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices, rapidly iterating upon designs in accordance with user-testing.
- Stakeholder Facilitation: Define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions to facilitate the client's product vision and handle nuanced stakeholder approval relationships.
Technical Requirements & Skillset1. Core UX/UI Design & Prototyping (55% Weighting)
- Extensive experience as a UX, UI, or Interactive Designer building responsive web and mobile applications.
- Industry-standard tool proficiency including Figma, Canva, and comparable prototyping suites.
- Strong grasp of the limitations and appropriate application of modern front-end web development technologies.
- Specialized experience designing online programs focused on the emotional and cognitive aspects of human experience.
2. Communication & Collaboration (30% Weighting)
- Cross-Functional Synergy: Proven history working closely with developers, QA specialists, and business owners to successfully deploy digital products.
- Design Documentation: Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive reports, project reviews, UX briefs, and interface assessments.
- Concept Evangeline: Highly skilled at presenting abstract design concepts and development processes clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
3. Desirable Frameworks & Accessibility (10% Weighting)
- Full proficiency designing for accessibility, ensuring strict adherence to WCAG 2.1 AA requirements and executing accessibility testing.
- Practical familiarity working within the Ontario Design System and understanding the provincial Digital Service Standard.
- Experience navigating complex design challenges, specifically when modernizing legacy systems.
4. Public Sector Context (5% Weighting)
- Prior Public Service or Ontario Public Service (OPS) project experience.
