Overview:S2F Global is looking for a contract Panel (Control Room) Operator to support our client's pilot facilities in Squamish, BC. The pilot facilities focus on commercialization of direct air capture (DAC) technology that captures carbon dioxide (CO) directly from the atmosphere. This is a long-term contract role until June 2027 with potential to extend.
You will run the plant from the control room. That means monitoring and adjusting process parameters through the DCS/HMI, coordinating with Field Operators, and responding to alarms and process upsets. During test campaigns, you will make sure the plant hits its test plan targets and that accurate data is recorded. That data supports technology development, process improvement, and the design of future commercial plants.

Key Responsibilities:Plant OperationsOperate plant equipment efficiently, effectively, and safely, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor process parameters using the local HMI and routine plant walk-throughs.
Conduct daily rounds and workplace inspections.
Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts and boom lifts.
Fulfill Operations Team responsibilities as set out in the Operator Standard Work.
Participate in test and production campaigns in line with the Operations Team schedule.
Adjust process parameters to achieve the targets outlined in test plans.
Gather data and track plant activities to support technology development and future plant design.
Identify and apply appropriate quality control tools and techniques.
Identify constraints to achieving plant objectives.
Complete and authorize daily work permits.
Execute, assess, and sign off on Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
Perform safety checks and audits.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and permits for plant operations.
Label and tag plant equipment.
Troubleshoot plant equipment and analyze root causes.
Respond to plant upsets and return equipment to service, including field troubleshooting, equipment cleanouts, and turnarounds.
Request, coordinate, and support work with the Maintenance Team.
Coordinate and oversee contractors working on site.
Complete or contribute to daily logs and reports.
Identify, capture, and communicate lessons learned, and implement solutions where appropriate.
Maintain a well-organized site and high housekeeping standards.
Foster a positive culture built on teamwork, a questioning mindset, and treating failure as a learning opportunity.
Provide support, guidance, training, and coaching to new Plant Operators.
Complete training on company processes and procedures to build a strong understanding of plant systems and process fundamentals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Operations.
1-2 years of experience operating equipment in an industrial process plant (for example oil and gas, chemical, pulp and paper, water treatment, or power generation).
Working knowledge of permit-to-work systems and LOTO procedures.
Experience monitoring and controlling a process through an HMI or DCS.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
Clear written and verbal communication for logs, reports, and shift handovers.
Ability to work 12.5-hour rotating day and night shifts on a 14/14 schedule.
