Compounding Extrusion Operator
Status: Full-Time
Shift: Night Shift | Monday to Friday | 11:30 PM to 7:30 AM
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00/hour
Location: Martingrove Rd & Steeles Ave West, Richmond Hill, ON
Overtime opportunities available on weekends.
Important: Public transit does not operate during night shift hours. Reliable transportation is required.
We are searching for a detail-oriented Compounding Extrusion Operator to join a busy plastics manufacturing operation. In this role, you will prepare and blend raw material formulas that feed the production process, ensuring every batch meets exact specifications before it moves downstream.
Key Responsibilities
• Weigh and measure resins, colorants, and additives according to the specified formula
• Load raw materials into the compounding/mixing machine
• Blend plastic and chemical additives to a specified consistency or viscosity
• Monitor the mixing operation and add chemicals or colorants to the mixture as needed
• Operate controls to regulate temperature, speed, and other processing conditions
• Unload the finished mixture/compound for further processing
• Perform minor equipment repairs and routine maintenance as required
• Maintain accurate inventory of materials and keep the work area clean and organized
• Record production data and complete quality checks
• Follow all safety protocols around hot equipment and moving machinery
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Previous compounding, extrusion, or plastics manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to read formulas/recipes and perform basic shop math
• Comfortable working a permanent night shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods on concrete floors
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Certifications: None required to start; completion of a Statistical Process Control (SPC) course is an asset. On-the-job training is provided.
