Metal Fitter

The Metal Fitter role in railings and miscellaneous steel involves assembling, and fitting structural steel, pipe and platework components. The position requires interpreting blueprints, operating cranes, and collaborating closely within a small team environment. Candidates must be physically capable of moderate lifting and standing, with adaptability for varying physical demands depending on the project scope. moderate training will be required to adapt to how the company manufactures its products.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze blueprints to guide fabrication tasks
• Mark reference points and measure dimensions on metal plates or structural sections
• Operate equipment such as an Iron worker, power drills, drill presses, and saws
• Align, tack-weld or bolt metal components to form structural sub-units
• Handle heavy materials using overhead cranes, hoists, and forklifts safely
• Perform welding operations with MIG welding as required
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment
• Inspect finished work to confirm quality and compliance with specifications

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 to 3+ years of experience in structural and miscellaneous steel
• Proficiency with welding processes such as MIG GTAW
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and work extended shifts in physically demanding settings
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of PPE

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 2 years of dedicated metal fitting experience
• In progress or completion of an apprenticeship in metal fabrication
• Demonstrated skill in MIG welding techniques
• experience with using the metric system to fabricate and weld
