Brandt Corporate Services Ltd. is currently seeking a Labour Relations Manager for our Regina, SK, location.

The Labour Relations Manager is responsible for providing strategic and hands-on labour relations leadership across Brandt. The role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on workplace relations, employment practices, conflict resolution, collective bargaining, policy interpretation, investigations, performance management, and employment legislation.

The Labour Relations Manager will work closely with senior leadership, managers, supervisors, and employees to foster a positive, respectful, and productive workplace. The position will lead the administration and interpretation of collective agreements and support the organization through grievance management, negotiations, mediation, and arbitration.

This role requires a strong understanding of Saskatchewan employment and labour legislation, excellent judgement, discretion, communication skills, and the ability to manage complex and sensitive employee relations matters.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for union representatives and bargaining units, establishing and maintaining professional, constructive working relationships while ensuring the organization's interests, policies, and obligations are appropriately represented.
  • Interpret and administer collective agreements, providing guidance to leaders, supervisors, HR team members, and employees
  • Prepare for and assist in collective bargaining negotiations in partnership with senior leadership and legal counsel. This includes gathering relevant data, reviewing current agreement language, identifying operational priorities, assessing financial implications, preparing negotiation materials, and supporting the development of bargaining positions.
  • Develop bargaining strategies, costing models, proposals, and supporting documentation by analyzing compensation trends, market conditions, historical settlements, organizational priorities, operational requirements, and the financial impact of proposed changes.
  • Maintain comprehensive bargaining files and historical records, including previous agreements, settlements, bargaining proposals, costing information, grievances, arbitration decisions, and established precedents, to support future negotiations and consistent decision-making.
  • Manage the grievance and arbitration process from initial grievance through resolution, including reviewing and assessing grievances, determining appropriate responses, coordinating investigations, preparing written responses, monitoring timelines, engaging internal stakeholders, and recommending settlement strategies.
  • Represent the organization in mediation, arbitration, and other labour relations proceedings, working with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel as required. Prepare documentation, evidence, submissions, and witnesses and ensure the organization is appropriately prepared for proceedings.
  • Track grievances, precedents, settlements, and labour relations trends, maintaining a centralized record that can be used to identify recurring issues, inform bargaining strategy, and improve organizational practices.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding workplace concerns, conflict, conduct, performance, attendance, and other employee relations matters.
  • Lead or support investigations into complaints involving workplace conduct, harassment, discrimination, bullying, policy violations, and other employment matters.
  • Ensure employee relations matters are handled objectively, consistently, confidentially, and in accordance with applicable legislation and company policy.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Saskatchewan employment and labour legislation and other applicable regulatory requirements, including employment standards, labour relations, human rights, occupational health and safety, privacy, and other legislation affecting the employment relationship.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to managers and senior leaders, providing candid, practical, and solution-oriented advice on labour and employee relations matters.
  • Build strong relationships with operational leaders and understand their business requirements.
  • Develop regular reporting on grievances, investigations, disciplinary matters, employee relations trends, and other labour relations metrics.
What We Look For
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPHR designation or progress toward designation is considered an asset.
  • Formal education or certification in labour relations, mediation, investigations, or conflict resolution is an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in labour relations, employee relations, human resources, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience interpreting and administering collective agreements is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with grievance management, discipline, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience supporting collective bargaining and negotiations is an asset.
