Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee construction projects from mobilization through completion. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing daily site operations, coordinating trades and suppliers, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring work is completed according to drawings, specifications, building codes, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, a minimum of 5 years of Site Superintendent experience, and experience managing light industrial and commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Site & Construction Management

  • Manage all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, trades, and field personnel.
  • Monitor site flow and ensure timely communication of project information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, consultants, and regulatory/AHJ officials.
  • Review construction drawings to identify potential conflicts, discrepancies, and issues before they impact the project.
  • Review on-site work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and established quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve construction issues as they arise.

Scheduling & Coordination:

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project construction schedules.
  • Coordinate trade activities and site logistics to maintain project progress.
  • Order materials and coordinate deliveries and required inspections.
  • Coordinate with utility providers and applicable authorities regarding off-site utility requirements.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders as required.
  • Coordinate project meetings and communicate project requirements to site personnel and subcontractors.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Conduct site safety orientations and regular safety meetings with subcontractors and trade partners.
  • Enforce applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and company safety procedures.
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections and maintain required safety documentation.
  • Ensure all site activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations and standards.

Quality Control & Documentation:

  • Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures are followed throughout construction.
  • Coordinate required inspections, testing, and reviews with consultants and testing agencies.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, site reports, safety records, and other required field documentation.
  • Ensure construction activities and finished work meet project specifications and quality expectations.

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to project team members and field personnel.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful, and accountable job-site environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and successful project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Experience managing light industrial and commercial construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, trade coordination, safety, and quality control.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of job-site safety requirements and OHS regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Procore is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate subcontractors and field teams.
  • Positive, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly as part of daily job duties.
  • Ability to walk and work for extended periods across construction sites and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to navigate areas with varying surfaces, obstacles, and active construction activities.
