Position: Adult Protective Service Worker
Type: Full-time Permanent Position – 35hrs per week (Evening work may be required)
Team: Community Integration and Advocacy

The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing is a fully accredited, non-profit organization offering professional counselling and community programs to individuals, couples, and families. Role Overview

Reporting to the Clinical Programs Manager, the Adult Protective Service Worker will:

  • Provide advocacy, case management, and support services to adults with developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • Be available to work one evening per week as needed.

Qualifications

Education: BA/BSW in Social Sciences or relevant college diploma
Advocacy Skills: Ability to support individuals at various cognitive stages
Language: Bilingual (French & English) preferred; unilingual candidates welcome
Experience: Supporting persons and/or families challenged by developmental disabilities
Knowledge:

  • Developmental services sector & person-directed planning
  • Principles of anti-oppression, inclusion, and advocacy in justice, education, housing, and health

Legislation Familiarity: APSW Guidelines, Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, Education Act, Landlord and Tenant Act, Mental Health Act, Consent and Capacity Act
Technical Skills: Computer literacy, documentation, organizational skills
Collaboration: Ability to work with teams and external service providers
Other: Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle, satisfactory drivers abstract, and the ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.

Salary

As per the collective agreement (BA/BSW or diploma salary grid).
