Our client is a leading global specialty geotechnical contractor that delivers innovative foundation and ground engineering solutions for complex infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and civil construction projects. With a strong reputation for technical expertise, safety, and project execution, they are seeking a Cost Accountant to join their growing team.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Cost Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial success of major infrastructure projects by partnering closely with Project Managers and operational teams. This position is responsible for project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, financial reporting, revenue recognition, cash flow analysis, and performance reporting while providing meaningful financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
This position supports a major infrastructure project in Kitimat, British Columbia, and follows a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) schedule of 10 days on site followed by 5 days off. Flights, accommodations, meals, and camp are provided while on rotation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, cost control reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts while providing recommendations to improve project performance.
- Partner with Project Managers to develop project budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial plans.
- Monitor project costs, revenue recognition, cash flow projections, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the financial setup of new projects and provide ongoing financial oversight throughout project execution.
- Assist with client invoicing, revenue tracking, purchase order compliance, and receipting processes.
- Develop and enhance financial reporting tools, dashboards, and automated reporting solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate operational and financial information to support better business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and reporting standards.
- Support internal audits, year-end financial activities, and coordination with external auditors.
- Present financial insights and performance metrics to project teams and management to support data-driven decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA is considered a strong asset.
- Previous experience in project accounting, cost accounting, project controls, financial analysis, or construction accounting.
- Experience supporting construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, engineering, mining, or industrial projects is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and project accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with Project Managers and operational teams.
- Ability and willingness to work a 10 days on / 5 days off Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) rotation to Kitimat, BC.
- Comfortable working in a remote camp environment.
