Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Dispatcher / Planner for a transportation company located in Brampton. This role is responsible for maximizing fleet utilization, ensuring on-time service, optimizing driver productivity, and delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will have experience working in an asset-based transportation environment, coordinating company drivers and equipment while balancing customer requirements, Hours of Service (HOS), and operational efficiency.

Experience using TMW Transportation Management System (TMW Suite/TMW Operations) is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and dispatch company drivers and equipment to maximize fleet utilization and profitability.
• Build efficient daily schedules while balancing customer service, driver availability, equipment capacity, and Hours of Service (HOS) compliance.
• Monitor shipments and proactively manage delays, service failures, and route changes.
• Coordinate pickups, deliveries, appointments, and driver schedules.
• Communicate regularly with drivers to provide load information, updates, and operational support.
• Optimize routes to minimize empty miles and improve equipment utilization.
• Work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Enter and maintain accurate load information within the TMW Transportation Management System.
• Monitor GPS tracking and shipment visibility to provide proactive customer updates.
• Coordinate backhauls and reload opportunities to maximize revenue.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, safety standards, and Hours of Service requirements.
• Resolve operational issues quickly while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers and customers.
• Maintain accurate operational records, dispatch documentation, and shipment status updates.
• Participate in after-hours or weekend dispatch coverage as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of dispatch or transportation planning experience in an asset-based trucking company.
• Hands-on experience with TMW Transportation Management System (TMW Suite/TMW Operations) is required.
• Strong understanding of truckload operations, fleet planning, routing, and dispatch.
• Experience dispatching company drivers rather than exclusively coordinating third-party carriers.
• Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including Hours of Service.
• Experience with cross-border transportation is considered an asset.
• Strong geographical knowledge of Ontario and major North American transportation lanes.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and changing customer requirements.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with GPS tracking, ELD systems, and transportation technology is considered an asset.
