Yard Labourer - Seasonal

The Yard Labourer is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient yard environment. This role supports daily operations through the handling, movement, and storage of materials, assisting with loading and unloading activities, operating basic equipment, and ensuring the yard remains clean and well-maintained. The Yard Labourer works closely with team members to promote operational efficiency, comply with safety standards, and support the timely flow of materials and equipment. Key responsibilities include material handling, inventory organization, site housekeeping, equipment operation, and adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load, unload, and move materials within the yard using manual labour or equipment
• Maintain yard cleanliness and organization, including sweeping, debris removal, and general upkeep
• Assist with inventory control by counting, sorting, and organizing materials
• Prepare materials and orders for shipment or customer pickup
• Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or skid steers (if certified)
• Assist with basic maintenance of tools and equipment
• Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
• Support drivers, operators, and supervisors as required
• Identify and report safety hazards or damaged equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENT

• Valid drivers license with a clean abstract
  
• Knowledge of load securement is an asset (training provided)
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Previous labour, warehouse, or yard experience is an asset
• Ability to lift 35 lbs or more
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Basic understanding of safety practices
• Forklift or equipment certification is an asset
• Strong work ethic and reliability
