SENIOR RESTAURANT DESIGNER
Be the next member of our growing team at Browns Restaurant Group (BRG). We are a multi-brand restaurant company developing and supporting concepts within our corporate and franchise communities.
As Senior Restaurant Designer, you combine creative vision, technical expertise and project structure to translate business strategy into compelling guest centric dining experiences for both the front of house and back of house environments. Reporting to the Director of Project Development, you will be responsible for leading the design development and execution of our restaurant environments and working closely with the extended Design team to create and execute interior design solutions for new stores, renovations and special design projects.
WHAT YOULL DO:
Design & Technical Experience:
- Develop strong restaurant design concepts, utilizing technical proficiency in AutoCAD and BRG brand design principles.
- Lead complex project initiatives from design to handover completion, driving strong coordination efforts between landlords, franchisees, architects, sub-consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Be the design leadership force that drives interior design aesthetic including samples library oversight, optimized space planning and restaurant layouts, FF&E and art program.
- Leverage industry design trends and insights to advance design innovation while maintaining current understanding of building code.
- Partner with franchisee community, store operations and culinary teams to gather feedback and translate insights into meaningful design and process improvements.
- Maintain high quality standards in technical excellence, design and build within department team.
Design Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Translate organizational priorities and business strategy into thoughtful, scalable design solutions.
- Apply critical thinking and data driven analysis to solve complex design and operational challenges.
- Influence project outcomes through effective communications, presentation and stakeholder engagement.
- Champion and articulate design rationale to senior leadership, franchisees, and internal stakeholders.
- Drive collaboration across departments to ensure design intent and solutions support operational expectations and business growth.
- Mentor and support team designers through knowledge sharing and partnership.
- Contribute to collaborative, high performing team culture that encourages continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Interior Design (from CIDA accredited school).
- 7-10+ years of commercial interior design experience, preferably in restaurant and hospitality environments.
- Provence experience managing multiple projects simultaneously from concept through construction and handover, including coordination with architects and consultants.
- Experience working with franchise models or multi-entity brands is an asset.
- Strong understanding of restaurant front of house and back of house kitchen space planning, guest experience and operations.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Ability to use SketchUp and Revit an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all levels of the organization, and relevant external contacts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to effectively manage change within tight deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Hospitality background an asset.
