HSP Law is seeking a Personal Injury Associate Lawyer to join our growing plaintiff-side personal injury practice in Toronto.

This is an opportunity for a lawyer to step into an active and emerging personal injury practice with many existing files, dedicated law clerk support, support staff, and access to senior counsel. The role is suited for someone who wants meaningful carriage of files, direct client contact, and the opportunity to develop within a growing firm.

We are looking for a lawyer with at least 1 year of post-call personal injury experience. Candidates at all levels of experience are welcome to apply, provided they have relevant personal injury experience and are a good fit for the role.

Responsibilities include:

Managing personal injury files from intake through resolution
Assessing liability, damages, medical records, productions, and file value
Developing settlement strategy and providing recommendations on resolution
Preparing settlement proposals, mediation briefs, pre-trial materials, and litigation documents
Negotiating settlements with insurers, defence counsel, and other parties
Attending discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, motions, and other litigation steps
Communicating with clients and obtaining instructions on settlement and litigation strategy
Finalizing settlements, including releases, settlement documentation, and closing steps
Working closely with a dedicated law clerk and other support staff to move files forward efficiently

Qualifications:

Called to the Ontario Bar and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Minimum 1 year of post-call experience in personal injury litigation
Experience with motor vehicle, slip and fall, long-term disability, tort, or other personal injury matters
Ability to assess file value, litigation risk, and settlement opportunities
Comfort dealing directly with clients, insurers, defence counsel, experts, and other parties
Strong drafting, organization, negotiation, client service, and communication skills
Professional judgment and a practical approach to resolving claims

About the role:

This is a full-time position based in Toronto/North York with flexibility. The successful candidate will have dedicated law clerk support, access to other support staff, and the ability to work with senior counsel on strategy and complex issues.

Compensation will be highly competitive that is commensurate with experience and may include a performance-based bonus structure.
