Unlike traditional project-focused sales roles, this position allows you to focus primarily on business development, networking, customer engagement, and closing opportunities, while being supported by internal teams responsible for estimating, project coordination, and administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, construction professionals, project stakeholders, and decision-makers.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new project opportunities within the commercial construction market.
- Generate business through networking, prospecting, referrals, and industry engagement.
- Meet regularly with customers to understand upcoming projects, business challenges, and future opportunities.
- Position the company as a trusted partner through proactive communication and customer support.
- Negotiate and secure project awards while maintaining strong long-term customer relationships.
- Monitor construction activity, market trends, and upcoming projects.
- Maintain awareness of competitive activity and changing market conditions.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to leadership.
- Participate in industry events, customer functions, trade association activities, and networking opportunities.
- Work closely with estimating, operations, project coordination, and customer support teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Assist in developing strategies to increase market share and expand existing accounts.
- Support customer issue resolution while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service.
- Minimum 5 years of outside sales, business development, or account management experience.
- Demonstrated success selling into the construction industry.
- Experience working with contractors, project managers, estimators, developers, engineers, or related construction stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop relationships, generate opportunities, and close business.
- Strong understanding of project-based sales environments.
