Job Description
As a Purchasing & Procurement Category Specialist, you will manage the full lifecycle of product categories—from sourcing and negotiation to sales analysis and logistics oversight.
Purchasing Specialist /Procurement Specialist duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supply Chain Management: Identify new partnerships, communicate with suppliers, and negotiate terms in line with Freshburg Corp. pricing strategy.
- Category Management: Establish product range policies, analyze product matrix structures, and manage the introduction or discontinuation of items.
- Market Analysis: Conduct competitor research within product groups to stay ahead of market trends and meet sales targets.
- Financial Performance: Monitor and report on category-specific sales and financial targets.
- Logistics & Operations: Oversee delivery processes to ensure efficient stock flow to stores and supervise transactions between the company and suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, or Category Management (Retail industry experience is highly preferred)
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel is a must—vlookups, pivot tables; Word, PowerPoint).
- Communication: Strong negotiation skills and excellent written/verbal communication in English.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to handle large datasets, perform market analysis, and make data-driven decisions.
- Organizational Skills: High attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and effective time management.
- Legal: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
