About the Project:

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

TRP has a current vacancy for a Structural Technical Lead who will provide technical leadership and engineering oversight for structural elements across a major rail transit infrastructure project delivered by Trillium Rail Partners (TRP). This role ensures structural designs, analyses, and construction methodologies meet project requirements, safety standards, and constructability expectations.

Working within a complex design-build / P3 environment, the Structural Technical Lead coordinates with multidisciplinary engineering teams, construction management, and project teams to deliver safe, resilient, and efficient structural infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for structural engineering scope across stations, guideways, tunnels, shafts, portals, and ancillary facilities.
  • Ensure consistency in the structural designs and solutions across the project.
  • Mentor structural technical coordinators across the project.
  • Review structural designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications and calculations prepared by consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project technical requirements.
  • Coordinate structural interfaces with civil works, architectural elements, and rail systems infrastructure.
  • Support constructability reviews and provide technical input into construction methods and sequencing.
  • Lead resolution of structural technical issues, RFIs, and design changes during construction.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation related to structural works.
  • Participate in design reviews, stakeholder workshops, and technical coordination meetings.
  • Assist the construction, procurement, estimating and scheduling teams with technical review and inputs of construction schedule, procurement packages, estimating scope and assumption and scheduling assumptions.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Ontario.
  • Significant experience in structural design and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with transit, underground structures, bridges, or large civil works is preferred.
  • Experience in design-build or P3 project environments is an asset.
  • Strong technical leadership and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in structural design principles and construction methods.
  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder communication abilities.
