General Operator

Equipment Operator M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. is seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated Equipment Operator to join our team for the upcoming busy season. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience operating 5-tonne and/or 8-tonne excavators in residential and commercial landscape construction projects. Qualifications & Requirements * Minimum 1–3 years of experience operating 5-tonne and/or 8-tonne excavators * Experience operating skid steers, loaders, and backhoes * Residential and commercial landscape construction experience required * Ability to assist labour crews with general site work when equipment operation is not required * Ability to read and understand utility locates * Experience with final grading is considered an asset * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented * Ability to work efficiently under deadlines * Ability to load and unload trucks and equipment * Must have reliable transportation Key Responsibilities * Operate equipment safely and efficiently according to company and industry standards * Assist foremen and superintendents in completing daily project tasks and objectives * Conduct daily electronic pre-use equipment inspections using a mobile device * Perform routine equipment maintenance, including greasing and checking fluid levels * Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including equipment and cab cleanliness * Follow all company safety procedures, OHSA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements * Participate in daily Pre-Job Safety Assessments (PSAs) and weekly toolbox talks * Properly use PPE, protective devices, and required safety equipment * Report hazards, incidents, unsafe conditions, or equipment defects immediately * Adhere to Canadian Landscape Standards and company quality expectations What we offer * Competitive wages ($25-$30 per hour, based on experience) * Opportunities for growth and advancement * A supportive team environment within one of Ottawa's leading landscape construction companies Apply today and grow your career with M.
