Our client is seeking a Financial Controller to serve as a key member of the management team, providing leadership across accounting, finance, treasury, tax, risk management, and administrative functions. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, accounting operations, treasury activities, payroll, benefits administration, tax compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, proven people‑management experience, and a strategic mindset.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure balance sheet and income statement integrity through effective controls and review processes
- Lead month‑end close activities, including accruals, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
- Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks
- Manage payroll processing, benefit plan administration, and related compliance obligations
- Review, prepare, and file tax returns and ensure timely remittances and installment payments
- Oversee treasury functions, including cash management, foreign exchange monitoring, and liquidity planning
- Prepare budgets and forecasts and analyze variances against actual results
- Produce ad hoc financial analyses, business cases, and reporting to support leadership decisions
- Maintain comprehensive financial records and audit trails in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Manage organizational risk, including insurance coverage and mitigation strategies
- Oversee customer and supplier credit management and collections activities
- Act as the primary liaison for audits, financial institutions, advisors, and other external stakeholders
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while promoting cross‑training and knowledge sharing
- Support strategic planning initiatives and track progress against corporate and departmental objectives
- Act as administrator for multiple financial and business software systems
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline
- CPA designation with active membership
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including managerial or supervisory responsibility
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments considered an asset
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder‑management skills
- High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement
