13 Month Contract / Fully Remote

Are you a highly strategic and hands-on HR leader ready to make a significant impact on a rapidly growing global enterprise? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you can build and shape foundational HR frameworks from the ground up? If so, we have an exceptional opportunity for you.
Our client is a pioneering force in the renewable energy sector, dedicated to developing intelligent, adaptable, and resilient energy solutions. With a global footprint across Canada, the US, UK, and Australia, this organization is at the forefront of the energy transition, focusing on next-generation projects including solar, wind, battery, and hydrogen. As a startup with approximately 65 employees worldwide, they operate with an owner's mindset and a collaborative spirit, solving complex problems and creating lasting value for communities, investors, and the planet.
This is a unique opportunity for a proactive, highly organized, and methodical individual to step into a critical, individual contributor role. Reporting directly to C-suite executives, you will be the sole HR professional globally, with direct influence over international HR, payroll, and HRIS strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute comprehensive HR strategies across multiple international regions.
  • Oversee and manage global payroll processes, with a strong emphasis on platforms like Rippling, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimization. Manage global benefits programs.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for an advanced HRIS platform (Rippling), leading its configuration, optimization, and effective use across various modules (payroll, time, expenses, performance, compensation).
  • Ensure adherence to international employment laws and skillfully manage complex employee relations issues across all regions. Provide support for global relocations and immigration.
  • Build out essential HR policies and procedures from scratch within a rapidly evolving startup environment.
  • Collaborate with global leaders on organizational design, performance management, and employee engagement, aligning HR initiatives with key business priorities.
  • Manage the HR budget effectively.
What We're Looking For:
Our client seeks a highly proactive and prepared HR professional with a strong methodological approach and the ability to integrate constructive feedback. The ideal candidate will possess robust global HR expertise, keen cultural awareness, and a proven ability to build scalable HR programs from the ground up. You will be comfortable as a key member of a high-performing leadership team with ambitious expectations and a strong sense of urgency.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in international/multi-region operations.
  • MUST have payroll experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with HRIS platforms, particularly with implementation experience (Rippling experience highly valued).
  • A self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, highly organized, and capable of independently building and managing HR functions.
  • High cultural awareness and the ability to navigate diverse global time zones and labour norms.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, high-performing environment with direct C-suite interaction.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across global teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations and multiple priorities independently.
This fully remote position offers unparalleled global exposure and direct influence over critical HR functions, with occasional in-person meetings with the C-suite. While open to various industries, a background in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is highly valued.
Compensation:
Our client offers a competitive compensation package for this critical role, including:
  • Base Salary: $120,000 - $130,000
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health benefits
  • Time Off: 20 vacation days
  • Bonus: Aggressive Completion bonus at the end of the 13-month contract.
  • This role is FULLY REMOTE with quarterly in-person meetings every quarter ( in Toronto)
If you are ready to lead global HR initiatives and contribute to a company that is truly making a difference in the world, we encourage you to apply.

USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – BY RECRUITERS & HIRING MANAGERS
At The Talent Company, people are at the centre of our recruitment process. While we may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools for limited administrative purposes (such as writing creative outreach messages, summarizing interview notes or transcribing reference checks) AI is never the decision maker. Resumes and candidate information are personally reviewed by our recruiters, and all hiring decisions are made by people who bring judgment, care, and expertise to each match. If a client's recruitment process involves a greater degree of AI use during their own interviews or assessments, we will communicate that to short-listed candidates, so they are aware in advance. Our commitment is to use technology responsibly, while ensuring fairness, transparency, and respect at every stage of the process.
USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – BY CANDIDATES
We recognize that candidates may choose to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support their job search, for example, to refine writing style or gather research. While this can be appropriate, the information you provide in your resume, screening questions, and interviews must always be truthful and accurately reflect your own experience, knowledge, and competencies. AI should never be used to create or exaggerate credentials. Our goal is to understand the real you – your skills, your story, and your potential – so that we can make the best possible match between you and the organizations we serve.
ACCOMMODATION & INCLUSIVITY
At The Talent Company, we recognize the value of different perspectives and experiences in prompting innovation, sparking creativity, and solving problems. As an equal employment opportunity organization, we do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment based on race, Aboriginal peoples, members of visible minorities, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, persons with disabilities and all other categories protected by law.
We are committed to Equal Opportunities and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Please let us know by emailing [email protected] if an adjustment or adaptation is required at any stage to support you during the recruitment journey.
