About our client:

Our client has been in the packaging industry for over 35 years, known as one of the largest full-service packaging suppliers in North America. We are looking for a Shipping Supervisor to join our client's team.

Employment Type: Permanent Full-time

Location: Onsite - Brampton

Position Overview

You will be supporting and leading our Shipping department by shipping products, warehousing organization, and distribution services, supervising staff, planning truck delivery routes, and enforcing Health and Safety practices and procedures to meet company standards and legislated requirements.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the reorganization of the Warehouse with other supervisors.

  • Manage warehouse inventory along with other supervisors.

  • Managing the shipping and distribution networks according to customer needs and business strategies, and working closely with carriers.

  • Managing the correct labelling of items, skids, and ensuring all shipments are properly handled and processed.

  • Executing leadership projects.

  • Operate forklifts and assist with hands-on warehouse tasks.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise day-to-day activities within a busy warehouse environment.

  • Supervise and lead warehouse and delivery staff.

  • Communicate clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.

  • Responsible for all new and existing shipping staff, which includes determining training needs, conducting performance reviews, participating in recruiting, ensuring compliance with H&S policies and procedures, and resolving employee concerns.

Shipping & Distribution Management

  • Oversee daily shipping, labeling, and distribution operations.

  • Plan delivery routes, coordinate dispatch, and ensure timely shipments.

Inventory & Production Coordination

  • Manage warehouse inventory, including stock levels, fulfillment, and production work orders.

  • Communicate with Sales & Customer Service regarding inventory shortages or tight supply situations.

  • Support inventory control processes as needed.

Customer Service & Issue Resolution

  • Address and resolve customer complaints and operational issues quickly and professionally.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet customer and business needs.

  • Promote a customer-focused culture throughout the warehouse.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.

  • Ensure all employees follow health, safety, and PPE protocols.

  • Complete daily equipment inspections and compliance checklists.

Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse operations, reduce costs, and enhance service.

  • Optimize workflows, reduce pick times, and reorganize the warehouse for efficiency.

  • Ensure adequate equipment and staff are available to meet operational demands.

Working Conditions

  • Weekend work may be required

Competencies

  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.

  • Familiarity with freight carrier forms and bills of lading.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Independent, decisive thinker able to make timely decisions.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and courteous demeanor.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, Ministry of Transportation, and WSIB regulations is an asset.

Education & Experience:

  • A post-secondary education.

  • Must be experienced and licensed counterbalance/reach truck operator.

  • A minimum of 2 - 4 years of warehouse leadership experience.
