Position Overview
The Die Cut Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of sheet-fed die cutting equipment (Brausse or Bobst 106) to ensure high-quality production in alignment with customer specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up sheet-fed die cutter machines according to job specifications and monitor operations to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect finished products to maintain quality standards and meet customer requirements.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of die cutting processes, including the use of cut, crease, and perforation rules.
- Execute efficient make-readies while preventing equipment or tooling damage.
- Set up and validate matrices and counters based on job specifications.
- Understand die manufacturing concepts including nicking patterns, rubbering needs, and material efficiency.
- Identify and troubleshoot common downtime or quality issues.
- Follow all health, safety, and regulatory procedures including Occupational Health & Safety guidelines and SafeStart practices.
- Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness; support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5–7 years of experience in sheet-fed die cutting; folding carton manufacturing experience considered an asset.
- Blanking experience required.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong ability to read tape measures (1/16”), perform basic math, and interpret mechanical documents.
- Physically capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 50+ lbs, standing and walking for long periods, and performing bending, kneeling, and stair navigation throughout the shift.
- A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a drive to achieve high standards.
