The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Proxy Governance Analyst to join our Asset Management team for 12 months.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, ESG Evaluations & Proxy Voting, the Proxy Governance Analyst is responsible for conducting proxy voting analysis, vote execution, on-going governance research as well as maintaining NEI's Proxy Voting Guidelines. The analyst will also collaborate with other analysts to discuss research and co-ordinate corporate engagements on proxy matters as necessary.

What your day looks like:

  • Conduct timely and accurate proxy voting analysis and vote execution, based on NEI's Proxy Voting Guidelines and corporate engagement priorities
  • Co-ordinate proxy voting operations, including reviewing meetings list and proxy advisory reports, relationship with proxy advisor, proxy voting trouble-shooting, supporting sector analysts and proxy-related engagement meetings
  • Maintain records of proxy voting, assist in analysis, review and report proxy votes and identify common themes, trends and progress over time
  • Assist with the compilation of voting data for stewardship reporting and Board presentation materials
  • Monitor corporate governance standards, regulatory developments and best practices and contribute to ongoing voting policy updates
  • Co-ordinate and assist with NEI's feedback on proxy campaign and associated dialogue
  • Assist team with special projects and support research requirements as needed

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • 2 years' plus experience in proxy voting research and administration, governance, compliance or ESG
  • Ability to manage critical deadline driven workflow, particularly during the peak time of proxy season
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong written, verbal and analytical skills
  • Ability to conduct research, draw insights and convey ideas clearly and concisely
  • Strong data compilation, management and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff, including management and other internal business partners
  • Familiarity with ISS ProxyExchange platform is an asset
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
  • Experience with visualization tools or programming an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $60,000 - $75,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
