Journeyman Mechanic

Essential Duties of this Opportunity:

• Responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, brakes and other basic components
• Will work on forklifts, tractor trailers, and miscellaneous equipment
• Must work well and communicate effectively with operators and other mechanics
• Must also be able to work alone or with limited assistance
• Creative thinking skills to make continuous improvements
• Reports to Service Manager
• Standard Hours: Day shift 7am to 3:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualities and safety tickets:

• CSTS 2020
• A valid Licensed Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate
  
• CVIP Tech License
• CSTS
• First Aid
• Valid driver's license with a clean commercial abstract
• H2S Alive
• CSO
• First Aid
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively
• Ability to remain alert and maintain a high level of concentration
• Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
• Time management skills
• Maintain good, accurate, paperwork
• Good judgement and the ability to react quickly in emergency situations
• Understands the operations and limitations of the equipment
• Mechanical ability to make minor repairs when needed

Experience:

• Experience with Heavy Haul trucks with Cummins/Detroit diesel engines and platform trailers is an asset. Apprentices will be considered
• Previous experience working with heavy haul trucks and trailer

Work Environment:

• Primarily shop-based, with some potential for field work. Must have own tools
