Role: Reporting to the Executive Director, and working closely with other BCC staff, the Philanthropy and Community EngagementCoordinator will play a critical role in the success of Bladder Cancer Canadas (BCC) donor relations and fundraising through the planning and coordination of fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation and stewardship, and revenue diversification.

Responsibilities


Fundraising Strategy and Revenue Growth:

  • Identify and implement new opportunities to diversify BCCs revenue sources as well as prospective donors and partners.
  • Coordinate and execute strategies to meet revenue targets for avenues including, but not limited to, third-party fundraising, corporate and foundation partnerships, and general donations.
  • Create and execute strategies to achieve objectives set for fundraising campaigns including the annual Holiday Appeal and Giving Tuesday.
  • Submit grant proposals by determining their alignment with BCC and support the completion of deliverables.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director regarding funding opportunities, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Campaigns and Communications:

  • Collaborate with the Communications Department to actively promote and grow all BCC fundraising campaigns and initiatives, including the development of a year-round digital fundraising campaign.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the Executive Director and in weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain accurate donor data and produce regular reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Donor and Partner Relations:

  • Issue charitable donation receipts for tax purposes.
  • Act as a liaison between BCC, donors, sponsors, and community members, and build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and funding contacts.
  • Steward prospects, donors, and volunteers appropriately as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Volunteer Engagement and Walk Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Director of Programs & Volunteers to develop and carry out an annual recruitment plan of volunteers to lead our fundraising walks in communities across Canada.
  • Post opportunities and review, screen, and interview volunteer applicants to ensure their skills and expectations match the role.
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive onboarding experience for new walk volunteers, connecting them with their staff partner and ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to thrive.
  • Take part in walk planning and implementation at both national and regional levels, sharing insights and ideas to enhance the overall impact of the events.
  • Support the coordination of a local walk in your community and step into a leadership role when needed to ensure events run smoothly.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs & Volunteers and National Development Manager to continually improve volunteer training and management practices for the walk, ensuring accessibility and inclusion for both English- and French-speaking volunteers.
  • Engage Volunteers in our Annual Walk.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, or related field.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in a similar role would be an asset.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal and/or customer service skills.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including knowledge of CRM systems or donor databases is required. Experience with DonorPerfect, CanadaHelps and other fundraising platforms, is an asset.
  • English-French bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of donor and stakeholder audiences.
  • Experience working in a health-related field or non-profit organizations would be considered a strong asset.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required to attend events and meetings.
  • Occasional national travel may be required.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Note:A police background check must be completed as condition of employment.

Location:

This is a work-from-home role.The suitable candidate will ideally be in the Eastern Time Zone. Work is expected to be completed during normal business hours; however, occasional evenings and weekends may be required for BCC events. BCC policies prohibit working outside of the employees province of residence unless approved for work-related purposes.

Compensation:

A 1-year, full-time contract position of 37.5 hours/week beginning December 1st, 2025, or earlier, with possibility of contract extension or transition to permanent employment.Salary of $48,000 per annum, with benefits package including health, dental and EAP available after probationary period, and 3 weeks of vacation per calendar year, pro-rated to start date.
