Director, Building Restoration & Envelope Engineering
About the Role:
In this newly created role of Director Building Restoration & Envelope Engineering, you will lead and grow our building envelope group. You will be accountable for technical excellence, business development, team leadership, and project delivery across
existing
building work. You are a highly motivated team player who thinks outside of the box and has the drive to mentor and guide project coordinators and more senior project managers. The ideal candidate is experienced in building science and structural restoration, with well-rounded knowledge of the envelope and structural elements of buildings including garages, balconies, roofs and waterproofing systems. The successful candidate has experience leading project teams with multiple levels of staff, as well as preparing and reviewing designs, specifications and reports.

Your Role:
- Act as the technical/department lead: review proposals, subconsultant reports, and staff analyses
- Lead investigations and produce technical reports (leaks, faades, balconies, garages, roofs)
- Knowledge and previous
experience with capital planning/reserve fund studies would be an extreme asset in this role
- Prepare design / repair specifications and manage tendering + procurement
- Win work: identify opportunities, lead proposals, manage client relationships
- Represent the firm at industry events, seminars, and promote our technical brand
- Mentor and train junior staff; help build internal systems and standards
- Manage projects from investigation through design, construction, closeout
- Monitor project finances: billing, receivables, budgets, profitability
- Proactively identify and manage project risks
- Develop or update in-house standards, apply new methods, and compare solutions
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, suppliers
- Perform site visits and field reviews to verify compliance with specs
- Lead continuous improvement: streamline workflows, enhance quality
- Enforce health & safety and administrative policies
- Comply with our administrative policies and procedures as set forth from time to time.
- Contribute to team efforts.
- Complete other duties as we may request which are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.
What Youll Bring To TCG:
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering or Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Architectural Technology.
- Minimum of 8-12 years of related experience as a consultant in building science
- Hands-on experience with leak investigations, faade repairs, roof systems, balconies, structural slab rehab (experience with multi-residential industry is preferred)
- P.Eng. designation is required.
- Strong understanding of codes, standards, building science, moisture, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- A team player approach to problem solving.
- The successful candidate must possess a valid class G drivers license.
