General Labour - Buffing and Grinding

Our client in Ayr has an opening for General Labour in their custom steel shop. Main duties will be to buff and grind custom metal parts.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately measure parts using metric or imperial systems and interpreting technical drawings.
• Packing orders onto skids.
• Unload and mark finished products from cutting tables, ensuring they are loaded directly onto skids when appropriate.
• Scrapping, hand grinding, and chipping slag from finished products.
• Use steel strapping to band oversized parts together and ensure they are ready for shipping.
• Dispose of scrap wood and recycling into designated bins for disposal.
• Sweeping, collecting wood and debris from aisles, truck bays, and the inventory areas.

Skills:

• Read and speak English fluently.
• Basic math skills.
• Must be able to accurately read both metric and imperial systems on a tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Previous experience with overhead bridge cranes and propane forklifts is an asset.
• Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
