Position Summary:
The Assembler is responsible for the accurate and efficient assembly of aluminum and glass components used in architectural systems such as curtain wall, window wall, storefront, doors, and related faade products. This role ensures all fabricated parts are prepared, assembled, sealed, and packaged to meet production standards, quality requirements, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Fabrication
- Assemble aluminium frames, mullions, transoms, and related components according to shop drawings, cut lists, and work orders.
- Install hardware, anchors, gaskets, pressure plates, covers, accessories, and glazing components.
- Fit and align components to ensure assemblies meet required tolerances and quality standards.
- Assist with glass installation including setting blocks, application of glazing tapes, sealants, and weep systems (depending on shop process).
- Operate common tools and equipment such as drills, saws, routers, punch tools, sealant guns, and measuring instruments.
Quality Control
- Inspect assembled units for accuracy, defects, scratches, and proper alignment.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, squares).
- Report non-conforming parts, material shortages, or discrepancies to production leads.
Production & Workflow
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and production schedules.
- Follow standardized work procedures, safety guidelines, and company quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with fabrication, glazing, and shipping teams to ensure on-time production.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
Health, Safety & Maintenance
- Adhere to all workplace safety protocols, PPE requirements, and handling procedures for glass and aluminum.
- Safely operate lifting devices, carts, cranes, and material-handling equipment.
- Report equipment issues or hazards to supervisors.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or construction (preferably in aluminium/glass or metal fabrication).
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and measuring devices with accuracy.
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
Preferred
- Experience with curtain wall, window wall, or glazing systems.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or 5S practices.
- Forklift, crane, or overhead lift certification.
- Previous experience in a fabrication or assembly shop environment.
