Ontario Line South

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are to design, build
and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

Working together as Ontario Transit Group we are currently mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown)

Job Description

Ontario Transit Group (OTG) is seeking an experienced Architecture Façade- Manager to lead and oversee critical infrastructure projects as part of the Ontario Line South initiative. Reporting to the Construction Manager, Architecture Façade-Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of the facades of the different stations of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Preparation

  • Lead the planning and execution of facade works in accordance with the Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental policies of the company, and the project requirements.
  • Prepare upcoming works in terms of methods, procurement, and design coordination.
  • Review construction drawings and specifications; generate procurement lists.
  • Prepare a schedule of deliverable expected by the subcontractors for documents such as shopdrawings, fabrication drawings, Material Approval Requests, factory inspection, performance and visual mock-ups, method of statements, to ensure compliance with overall schedule of work.
  • Prepare and monitor short-term schedules and update overall project timelines.
  • Prepare Change Orders and manage scope adjustments with subcontractors.

Design & Technical Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Design Team to ensure timely and accurate technical information is provided to subcontractors to meet schedule and budget.
  • Review shopdrawings provided by the Subcontractor and submit to designer seeking for approval.
  • Track, manage and address the RFI's submitted by the subcontractors, and ensure that Subcontractor's RFI are properly addressed in time.
  • Request and track technical drawings and documentation needed for execution.
  • Clarify scope boundaries and technical interfaces with other trades during procurement and execution.

Site Execution & Subcontractor Management

  • Organize the construction site with façade subcontractors to ensure logical sequencing and schedule compliance.
  • Coordinate daily with subcontractors to ensure availability of manpower, materials, and equipment.
  • Lead weekly coordination meetings with façade subcontractors to review progress and resolve issues.
  • Monitor site progress and report delays, interferences, or concerns to the Design Team and Construction Manager.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Supervise subcontractor resources and ensure alignment with project goals.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare weekly reports detailing site activities, workforce levels, progress quantities, and comparisons with the approved schedule.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, progress updates, and input for month-end reconciliation.
  • Provide management with data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Maintain organized records and correspondence.
  • Compile and coordinate as-built documentation for quality records.

Quality & Compliance

  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to follow up on Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Track, manage, and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid delays and disruptions.

Stakeholder & Cross-Trade Coordination

  • Liaise with subcontractors, internal departments, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Coordinate with other construction teams (Civil, MEP, Logistics, Architectural trades) to ensure schedule alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and subcontractors, to ensure schedule compliance.
  • Maintain communication with the Client and their representatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's degree is considered an asset).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in façade execution coordination, particularly on large-scale infrastructure projects involving systems such as curtain walls, glazing, terracotta cladding, aluminum panels, and louvres.
  • Proven track record in managing complex façade packages from design through to installation and handover.
  • Strong technical understanding of façade design principles, detailing, and construction methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of façade materials, manufacturing processes, installation techniques, and relevant testing standards.
  • Familiarity with façade production workflows and coordination with interfacing trades.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, and other construction management platforms.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to construction and façade works.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
