POSTING: Emergency Management Coordinator
Full-time position
Primary Purpose: The Emergency Management Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and liaising emergency management plans, encompassing the five phases of emergency management: Prevention, Mitigation, Preparation, Response and Recovery. Additionally, the Emergency Management Coordinator will manage and coordinate all emergency management training and exercises, set up and maintain an Emergency Operation Centre and create strategic relationships with community, industry, organization and government agencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/Duties
- Development, exercise and updates of emergency plans for Thessalon First Nation.
- Ensure emergency plans are made publicly available and accessible, as required.
- Provide Indigenous Services Canada with a copy of all emergency plans developed.
- Assist Thessalon First Nation in the identification, completion and submission of funding applications for applicable program funding.
- Update community flood and fire maps.
- Complete fire protection and response plans.
- Establish and activate an emergency operations center in the community.
- Assist with logistical tasks, including but not limited to creating flight manifests and evacuations.
- Coordinate and procure additional resources as needed, given the nature of the emergency.
- Other Duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree/Diploma in Emergency Management is required or at a minimum an Emergency Management Certificate with 3-5 years work experience.
- Knowledge of Emergency Management including processes, policies and laws.
- Experience in document management and policy creation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High degree of organizational and time management skills.
- Valid Ontario Drivers License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Salary: $48,000 - $56,000
