CCI Ottawa has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years. CCI Ottawa is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. We also work in the community to promote the value of a diverse and more welcoming community for all.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Manager of Reception House, this position will be responsible for planning and implementing a childrens program at Reception House. The worker must ensure the safety of children, be respectful of parents & children and also ensure that equipment & facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Children - Youth Program Worker will:
- Establish policies, procedures, and implementation strategies.
- Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.
- Provide and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment.
- Develop weekly and monthly schedules for indoor, outdoor, and field trip activities.
- Organize and coordinate field trips.
- Coordinate and collaborate with volunteers.
- Implement age-appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Support the social and emotional development of children.
- Keep parents informed about program expectations, activities, and their childs progress.
- Develop and facilitate interactive parent-child literacy activities.
- Attend to the personal hygiene of each child in care.
- Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each childs family and encourage their involvement.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with Sage Youth.
- Develop and maintain records of childrens progress.
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Child Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children or in a similar role.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong assessment skills and sound judgment in decision-making.
- Knowledge of the barriers faced by marginalized, racialized, newcomer, and refugee populations.
- Experience in coordinating and facilitating workshops.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid Class G drivers license and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is highly desirable.
- Fluency in Arabic or other languages is an asset.
- Member in good standing with a related professional association or college is an asset.
- Training in Mental Health First Aid, mental health strategies, and CPR/First Aid is an asset.
