About this role:

We are looking for a motivated Accounting Co-Op Student, who thrives in a dynamic, hands on, small team environment and fosters our culture of collaboration and getting things done. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a critical role in the Finance department by supporting critical month-end functions, and have a detail-oriented approach to financial analysis & reviews, while leveraging our existing systems & applications to drive process improvement and data integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment runs, vendor management, customer billing, and cash application.
  • Support the monthly preparation and review of Financial Statements, including processing of standard & adjusting journal entries, and proactively identifying variances & performing root cause analysis.
  • Monthly account reconciliations - completing complex reconciliations as well as acting as first level review for certain account reconciliations; while preparing accruals and reclass entries as needed
  • Support implementation of new or upgraded financial systems by updating required master data fields, creating training materials, and assisting team members during & after go-live.
  • Utilize existing financial systems & applications to streamline processes and improve internal controls while proactively suggesting improvements.
  • Assist in financial & control audits by preparing working papers and assisting with data collection
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives to improve efficiency and streamline accounting processes.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Accounting or Finance, with intent to pursue a CPA designation
  • Prior accounting co-op experience is preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Previous ERP experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the Finance team and other key stakeholders within Avidbots
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a fast-growing startup culture
  • Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks
