What will you do?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role.

• Assist and support the tax team with all elements of tax, including tax accounting and reporting, tax provisioning and compliance work, along with special planning initiatives
• Preparation and review of all Canadian tax filings, including corporate income tax returns, partnership returns, trust returns, and supporting documentation such as ACB schedules, taxable income flows, deferral calculations and tax projections
• Prepare and review quarterly and year-end accounting provisions and related reconciliation of tax liability accounts
• Assist with budgets and cash flow projections, tax modeling
• Analysis of tax issues related to potential transactions or general issues as they arise.
• Assist with the co-ordination of all US tax return filings
• Involvement with CRA and other taxation authorities for matters relating to assessments, audits and other administrative items.
• Timely, accurate, clear and to-the-point communication of tax information to other members of the finance team

What type of experience should you have?

These are some of the things we'd like you to bring to the table:

• 5+ years of tax experience in a public accounting firm environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong understanding of Canadian tax compliance, excellent knowledge of accounting for income taxes, IFRS and tax provisioning.
• CPA designation and completed a Master of Taxation degree or the CICA in-depth tax course level I & II
• Experience with multi-entity structures and the taxation of trusts and partnerships an asset
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional and international reporting is a plus
• Detail oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing and mentoring direct reports
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
