Job Summary

As a part of Calgary Economic Developments Brand, Marketing & Activations team, the Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and overseeing the design of all digital and print assets that promote both Calgary and CED, ensuring consistency with the organizations brand guidelines to enhance awareness and engagement.

This role has an in-office requirement of at least three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and oversees the production of various marketing, communication, and promotional materials, including brochures, reports, websites, landing pages, social tiles, ads, signage, presentations, e-newsletters, videos and more.
  • Supports the ideation and execution of paid media campaigns to drive business objectives, working collaboratively with other members of the team to stand up the landing pages, campaign assets, and related collateral and optimizing these campaign based on performance data.
  • Contributes to and helps develop and execute digital strategies to support marketing and communications objectives for websites, email campaigns and social media channels.
  • Ensures brand quality standards across all design, digital, and creative initiatives, enforcing corporate brand guidelines as well as brand image consistency.
  • Manages CEDs Digital Assets to ensure there is a growing repository of current materials that can be applied with consistency for CEDs needs and optimizes the use of those digital assets.
  • Offers training and support for implementing brand best practices across the organization.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and vendors
  • Provides support in managing project budgets, quotes, and schedules.
  • Acts as a corporate and city brand ambassador within the organization and with Calgarys other promotional agencies.
  • Attends events, providing support with materials placement, event logistics and preparing digital and web content for events.

Education

  • Post secondary degree in Graphic Design/ Fine Arts/Graphic Communications or other related diploma, degree or certification.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area during which professional capability has been clearly demonstrated.
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector, community organizations and community investment models is an asset.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Experience with branding, digital media and print production.
  • Expertise designing in PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
  • Familiarity or experience with motion graphics, UX/UI or web design tools an asset.
  • Expertise in building templates in Canva or other tools considered an asset.
  • Experience in building landing pages or using a CMS, as well as managing social media tools considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM Dynamics and Hub Spot considered an asset.
  • Effective time management skills with project management experience.
  • Experience and a proven track record in the management of digital assets and overseeing the adoption of a brand for an organization.
  • Sound relationship building skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with peers, other departments, and stakeholder groups strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital marketing including website design, e-mail marketing and social media best practice

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
