At Viking Instrument, we are seeking a Technical Sales Representative to be responsible for managing and growing market share within the Grande Prairie Area. You will focus on driving demand and sales through product knowledge and building relationships with engineers, end users, contractors and OEMs. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and highly motivated sales professional who has compelling drive, technical and consultative selling experience, as well as mechanical aptitude.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Develop, and manage all accounts in the assigned territory. Be an established first choice partner with end users, engineers, contractors and OEMs
- Cold call and prospect for new accounts, while managing and growing the existing book of business
- Motivate, educate and close business in group situations such as OEM seminars, and customer training events
- Manage territory through proactive sales calls mapping and scheduling
- Provide troubleshooting expertise of Instrumentation and process control products
- Determine customer requirements and provide specification/technical application solutions of control equipment and instrumentation
- Communicate the needs of system design and application requirements with appropriate staff ensuring timely quotations
Role Qualifications:
- Previous technical selling experience is highly preferred – must have previous sales experience with solution selling skills
- Experience in the process and instrumentation industry is a plus
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to convey value to plant operations personnel, engineers and maintenance leadership as well as in a boardroom
- Ability to build and foster impactful relationships with customers
- The candidate will be responsible for the development of target end user, OEM, and engineering accounts.
- Background using strong analytical thinking, doing projected forecasting, and utilizing sound business judgment combined to show demonstrated sales results.
- Review engineering plans and specifications for potential projects and provide assistance with bid preparation.
- Meet Annual sales quotas and targeted goals.
- Troubleshoot field problems.
- Communicate the needs of system design and application requirements with appropriate staff at the office, ensuring timely quotation follow up on all leads.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to furnish proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
Must reside in the Grande Prairie area. You will work in the field with limited home office requirements.
