Reporting to the School Age Care Supervisor and School Age Care & Family Programs Manager, a successful candidate will have experience working with children with extra and/or additional support needs.
Contract Details:
- This is a seasonal position, September 2025 thru to the end of June 2026;
- Hourly Wage $21.50;
- Vacation is paid as a % of wages earned;
- Working hours are 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (working four (4) hours per day); Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays, excluding statutory holidays, following the child's attendance that is three (3) days per week;
- During school programmed breaks (Spring & Winter) and Pro D Days, the working days will follow the child's attendance or program needs and the working shift can be up to 7.5 hours/day;
- We are in beautiful North Vancouver, close to mountains, trails beaches, near Deep Cove.
Responsibilities: The School Age Care Support Leader is responsible for providing 1:1 support for individual children, with the following, but not limited to:
- Works closely with a child that needs extra support to ensure a successful School Age Care experience, including guiding the child's behaviour and encouraging / assisting the child to participate in activities to the best of their ability;
- Develops, engages and implements developmentally appropriate activities and experiences;
- Works with Supported Child Development to acquire resources as needed/beneficial;
- Completes Monthly Support Time sheets;
- Reviews and implements Care Plans for children;
- Ensures the child's environment is healthy and safe at all times;
- Ensures positive communication with children, family members, caregivers and others;
- Contributes to the ongoing operation of the School Age Care program;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Program Manager as assigned.
- Minimum 19 years of age.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Emergency First Aid Certification with CPR (minimum 8 hour course).
- Training and/or experience related to guiding challenging behaviour or working with children who need extra support.
- Either an Education Assistant Certificate or 20-Hour Responsible Adult certificate.
- A minimum of one year of experience working directly with neurodivergent children.
- Current safety oriented first aid and CPR certificate (minimum 8-hour course).
- A clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons.
