Position Overview:
We're looking for a Cutting & Forming Lead to take ownership of all laser cutting and metal forming operations. You'll play a vital role in overseeing daily production, improving workflows, and pushing the limits of what's possible. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a creative problem-solver and strategic thinker who thrives on accountability, precision, and progress.

COO and Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Laser Cutting Operations

• Program and operate laser cutting machines with a focus on precision and efficiency
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
• Perform quality checks and enforce tolerances for edge quality and dimensional accuracy

Metal Forming Oversight

• Set up and operate press brakes and related forming equipment
• Schedule jobs to ensure seamless handoffs between cutting and forming
• Manage tooling inventory and ensure readiness for all forming operations

Quality Control & Compliance

• Define and uphold inspection standards in coordination with the QC team
• Maintain documentation of defects and corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement using data, root-cause analysis, and lean principles

Material Management & Logistics

• Track raw material usage, assist with ordering, and manage nesting strategies
• Ensure safe, efficient storage and handling of sheet metals
• Collaborate on packaging and shipment of parts to maintain order integrity

Production Intake & Scheduling

• Review online and internal work orders for feasibility
• Schedule jobs based on capacity, lead times, and priority
• Provide regular status updates to sales, operations, and customer service

Reporting & Process Optimization

• Generate production, maintenance, and efficiency reports
• Stay current on cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and methods
• Implement data-driven improvements across cycle times, scrap rates, and machine uptime

Team Leadership

• Mentor and guide machine operators and technicians
• Set performance goals and provide coaching and hands-on training
• Champion a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration

Process & Innovation

• Develop and maintain SOPs for all cutting/forming processes
• Lead kaizen efforts and drive lean manufacturing initiatives
• Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance manufacturability and reduce rework

Safety & Industry Standards

• Enforce safety protocols and conduct incident investigations
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
• Support internal audits and maintain documentation integrity

Requirements:

• 3–5+ years in a manufacturing or fabrication environment with direct experience in laser cutting and metal forming
• Proven experience with ProShop ERP or similar systems
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 practices
• Experience operating and programming CNC laser and press brake machines
• High attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a hands-on leadership style
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
