About the Role
Were looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our finance operations and support agency-wide financial health. Your work will ensure sound internal controls, reliable financial reporting, and timely support to funders, auditors, and program leads. This position is essential to upholding transparency and confidence in how we manage public and donor funds.
Youll lead a small team and collaborate with internal and external partners to keep our systems running smoothly and our processes efficient and clear.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Lead the full AP cycle, ensuring timely, accurate vendor payments
- Maintain the AP system and apply consistent internal controls
- Support staff with policy guidance and expense claim processes
Accounts Receivable (AR) & Cash Management
- Oversee invoicing, collections, and deposits
- Approve AR transactions and supervise reconciliation processes
- Troubleshoot issues with internal and external partners
General Ledger Management
- Manage the chart of accounts and journal entries
- Lead bank reconciliations and the monthly close
- Ensure timely accruals, amortizations, and capital asset tracking
Budgeting, Reporting & Audit Support
- Support annual budget planning and track program-level budgets
- Assist with grant financials and reporting
- Lead prep for year-end audits and support CRA filings (T4A, T3010)
Finance Process Improvement
- Document and refine finance and accounting procedures with SOP's
- Champion efficiency, clarity, and usability in financial processes
- Lead policy development in alignment with agency needs
Qualifications

Education & Designation
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- CPA designation in good standing (required)
Experience
- Minimum 6 years in full-cycle accounting
- At least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Non-profit or public sector experience is a strong asset
- Experience with audits, CRA filings, and funder reporting
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, modelling)
- Strong working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., SAGE or similar ERP)
- Comfortable navigating Office 365 tools (Excel, Word, SharePoint)
