Job Summary

We are looking for a talented intern to join our team in the Analytics Engineering domain. As an intern, you will work closely with our team of analytics engineers to design and develop advanced analytics solutions for our private equity-backed portfolio company clients. You will assist in understanding their business needs and developing tailored analytics solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Support a team of analytics engineers to design and develop advanced analytics solutions and be an active contributor to executing on engagement work
  • Assist Engagement Managers and Associates in working closely with clients to understand their business needs and develop tailored analytics solutions
  • Assist Engagement Managers and Associates in translating Client communicated business needs into an exploratory data analysis program and lead team efforts to execute
  • Assist analytics engineering teams in designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing complex enterprise data models to help solve operational and financial business problems
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, visually appealing reports and dashboards to communicate complex analytics insights and recommendations to senior client executives, ensuring that findings are easy to understand and actionable by senior executives
  • Participate in and assist in project meetings and contribute to project deliverables
  • Effectively work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to increase team efficiency and productivity
  • Collaborate with data engineers to design, develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines critical to the integrity of the enterprise data models
Employment Standards Compliance

· Leaves of Absence - Interns are eligible for unpaid statutory leaves such as pregnancy leave, parental leave, bereavement leave, and family caregiver leave, provided they meet ESA eligibility criteria. Teragonia complies with all statutory obligations and will accommodate leave-related needs in accordance with applicable law.

· Hours of Work & Overtime - Interns are expected to work approximately 35 to 40 hours per week, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Overtime will only be assigned when necessary and will be compensated at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for hours exceeding 44 in a workweek, unless the role is exempt under ESA. Teragonia does not permit unapproved overtime and expects interns to communicate availability and workload concerns proactively.

Recruiting Process

  • Initial Interviews with Managers - Candidates participate in two interviews with hiring managers. These conversations focus on assessing the candidate's alignment with the team's goals and general suitability for the role.
  • Technical Interviews with Principals - Shortlisted candidates proceed to one or two in-depth technical interviews with senior technical leaders or principals. These sessions evaluate technical competencies, problem-solving abilities, and depth of expertise relevant to the position.
  • Final Interview with Founders - The final stage of the process is an interview with the company's founders. This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss strategic alignment, vision, and long-term contribution to the organization.

Work Location Policy

We are looking for candidates living in, or willing to relocate to, within commutable distance of the Toronto metropolitan areas so that we can provide you with the support and mentorship during the internship.

Requirements

QualificationsPreferred

· Currently pursuing a Bachelor's (rising Senior) or master's degree in accounting & finance, or Economics (with a minor in Computer Science or Information Systems), Business Analytics, Computer Science (with minor in finance, econometrics or equivalent), Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with strong academic performance from accredited universities

· Proficiency in Python/SQL, and eagerness to learn new tools and platforms quickly

· 0-2 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, software engineering or a related field at global consulting firms, top financial services firms or high-growth startups

· Demonstrated interest in learning how analytics insights drive business value

· Experience in performing exploratory data analysis

· Certification in data science or analytics (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional)

· Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent residence, or valid work permit)
