The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for an Electrician.
OVERVIEW
The primary function of the Electrician is to install and maintain the electrical systems for the stadium, as well as perform other regular maintenance duties as requested by the Facility Maintenance Manager. The stadium electrician is crucial in maintaining a safe and functional electrical infrastructure within the facility, contributing to the overall success of events hosted in the stadium.
This role may be for you if:
Must be able to work with and liaise with external contractors as an ambassador and representative of the Facility Maintenance Department.
Ability to read detailed blueprints, check content, controls and gauges when providing preventative maintenance on equipment, as well as interpretation of material contained in contracts.
Creativity requirements include, redesigning, re-wiring, and researching new better suited materials.
Working knowledge of employee responsibilities under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS as well as regular updates on any changes to the applicable legislation.
Physical requirements will include, but not be limited to bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting 50 pounds, pulling, pushing, running, standing, stooping, stretching, twisting, and walking. Ability to see, smell, hear and touch, in order to complete job tasks.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision as well as in group settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Installing temporary distribution power for concerts and events that will take place throughout the building. Working with local promoters to insure all the power requirements are provided on a timely basis.
Maintenance and repair of electrical components of roof; including PLCs, Control wiring. Providing assistance to roof contractors, as required.
Willingness to train on roof operation, if required.
Acting as event stand-by electrician during events to address any electrical issues that may arise, ensuring that the event runs smoothly.
Performing preventive maintenance on electrical equipment such as motors, drives, transformers, roof operating equipment, lighting control systems. All event related equipment to be maintained and kept in safe working order.
Troubleshooting all electrical issues that may arise by systematically eliminating
possible sources, while minimizing impact to operations as much as possible.
New installation of electrical devices and assisting with small scale internal renovations. Ensuring that all installations meet ESA standards, including all rough in and final connections.
Carrying out regular safety inspections to ensure that all safety standards are adhered to by performing safety inspections of all electrical equipment.
Maintaining stock of electrical materials and supplies including fuses, wires, conduit, cable, breakers, receptacles, connectors, etc. by monitoring inventory. Putting forth recommendations and obtaining required approval from the Manager in an effort to
maintain required stock on-hand. Verifying receipt of shipments and ensuring storage of on hand supplies.
Responsible for promoting and maintaining the safety, health and well-being of self and co-workers by wearing all PPE required. Regularly attending the health & safety training provided. Performing all duties in a safe and conscientious manner.
Responsible for carrying out monthly scheduled generator testing.
Responsible for replacement and maintenance of life safety devices as required.
Providing a high level of customer service to tenants by completing work orders in a timely fashion and within required specifications.
Willingness to take on additional duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager, i.e.
assisting other functions within the department, i.e. plumbing maintenance and cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be available to work home games (evenings, weekends, and holidays) and other Rogers Centre concerts/events as required.
Licensed Electrician (309a, C&M) within the Province of
Ontario. Five years of related experience.
Up-to-date knowledge of Code, Electrical systems, and materials.
Well versed in event power distribution and Cam-Lok power is an asset
Fire systems certification an asset.
Forklift and scissor lift experience is an asset.
Experience with communications cabling (COAX, Cat 6)
Ability to analyze situations, assemble, compose correspondence, create reports, design, diagnose issues, do research, edit written materials, rectify issues, gather information, exercise good judgement, efficient operation of office equipment,
operate equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles in a safe manner, run and interpret tests, strong problem-solving skills, utilization of strong mathematical and grammar sills.
Communication skills include the use of courtesy, tact, discretion, persuasion, interpretation, judgement, and good interpersonal skills in order to escalate and discuss any electrical issues and potential solutions with tenants.
Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Outlook, and Office
Must be able to keep up with a high paced environment and workflow.
