About the Opportunity
UJA is seeking a creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented Design Leadto join our Marketing department. The Marketing team plays a key role in shaping the organizations voice and visual identity, using storytelling, design, multimedia, and immersive experiences to engage the community in UJAs mission.
Reporting to the Director, Design, the Design Lead will manage a portfolio within UJA to conceptualize, design and produce a wide range of print, digital and experiential projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on designer who can bring big ideas to life while ensuring quality, consistency, and impact across all deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle design projects-from ideation and concept development through to production and delivery-for marketing campaigns, reports, events, and digital communications.
- Translate business and communications objectives into high-impact design solutions that are aligned with campaign goals and creative briefs.
- Produce visually engaging materials across multiple channels including print, web, email, social media, event signage, presentation decks, and donor materials.
- Collaborate closely with writers, developers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure creative is integrated and strategic.
- Push creative boundaries by exploring fresh, innovative design approaches that elevate UJAs storytelling and audience engagement.
- Manage timelines and deliverables to ensure all creative assets are delivered on time, on brand, and on budget.
- Maintain a high standard of quality, consistency, and accessibility across all visual outputs.
- Ensure all files are prepared for final production-including print specifications and digital requirements - and liaise with vendors where needed.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Advertising, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, preferably in an agency, in-house marketing team, or fast-paced creative environment.
- Strong portfolio showcasing concept-driven work across print and digital formats, with an emphasis on marketing campaigns or brand storytelling.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); familiarity with motion design tools (e.g. After Effects) or Figma is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of typography, layout, visual hierarchy, colour, and user experience principles.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- Clear communicator who can effectively present and articulate creative ideas to both peers and non-design stakeholders.
- Experience preparing production-ready files and reviewing proofs; familiarity with both digital and offset print standards.
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Stripo or Pardot is an asset.
- Familiarity with non-profit or values-driven organizations is a plus.
- Familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset
* This is a full-time permanent position. Union Level 6. As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis. Please note that UJAs offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
