Tayco is currently looking for 1 full time and ambitious Robotic Welding Technician to join our dynamic team and help us reach a new vision. The Robotic Welding Technician works as a valuable member of our afternoon shift Metal Fabrication Team to ensure we are assembling high quality product that meets our customer's needs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Programs and resets Robotic Welder for each frame size change. Reboots the system, when required.
  • Modifies computer-controlled robot programs / movements.
  • Develops robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Welds components in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Troubleshoots robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers/ mechanics etc.
  • Aligns, fits, or assembles component parts using hand tools, power tools into fixtures/templates.
  • Operates robots to perform customized/regular production welding runs.
  • Evaluates weld thickness and quality and ensures conformance to specifications. Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensures each frame is in alignment.
  • If subpar quality is detected, manually welds, removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper, as needed to ensure productivity objectives are met.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings with minimal errors.
  • Positions and secures steel and aluminum fabricated parts into jigs and fixtures in preparation of welding process.
  • Ensures accuracy of frame set up (clamping and square measurements) in accordance with SOPs.
  • Adjusts jigs and fixtures according to the product sizes.
  • Moves welded products in to staging area.
  • Ensures that documentation and procedures comply with applicable ISO quality standards.
  • Prepares metal fabricated parts using punch presses and saws in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures welded parts comply with engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and good housekeeping standard in keeping with Health and Safety Standards.
  • Complies with all company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Without limitation, wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times in accordance with Tayco's policies.
  • Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Provides SOP process familiarization and orientation.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of management.

Requirements

  • Diploma, certificates and/or apprenticeship training in Welding, or equivalent work experience. Ideally, TSSA or CWB certifications in MIG welding.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years' experience in Welding in an industrial environment with a proven track record of success.
  • Must have excellent knowledge in regards to MIG welding techniques and have the skill set to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Able to understand, speak, read and write English. Must be able to understand verbal and written work instructions and understand health and safety procedures which are typically routine, as accuracy and attention to detail is necessary.
  • Possess strong communication skills in order to document work, problem solve in teams, learn new work processes and participate in continuous learning and regular team meetings.
  • Is able to effectively both independently or as a part of a team.
  • Is able to achieve results and drive efficiencies in their day to day work.
  • Is able to take initiative and demonstrate pro-active problem solving in their day to day work.
  • Is able to understand and follow established personal safety, security and environmental practices. Is knowledgeable of, and compliant with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMS) and Occupation Health and Safety Act (OSHA).
  • Complies with all company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times in accordance with Tayco's policies.
  • Is able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and to carry, move, manipulate and/or position them and to move, bend, twist or maintaining awkward body positions while performing work.
  • Has good hand and eye co-ordination and muscular control sufficient to operate tools or equipment and to and to see closely and/or listen intently in order to achieve very detailed results and/or detect flaws or errors.
