The Job Cost Analyst is located in Ottawa and typically reports directly to the Regional Vice President.

The Job Cost Analyst's primary areas of responsibility will consist of ongoing performance and monitoring of job cost, cash flow and billing functions in support of regional business activities.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Use JDE to set up jobs, add cost codes, log, enter, and review change orders and review/update job forecast.
  • Monitor labour cost.
  • Prepare cost transfer forms.
  • Run and review productivity report.
  • Prepare detail variance analysis and identify trends.
  • Provide job cost information for the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
  • Participate in month-end WIP reviews.
  • Understand billing and revenue language in the contract.
  • Ensure the project set up/structure supports the billing requirements, billing line set up as required.
  • Generate accurate and timely draft billing for customer approval.
  • Support the financial reporting process by ensuring that revenues and expenses are recognized in accordance with the Company's accounting policies relating to the type of revenue contract (e.g., fixed price, cost plus, unit price contracts etc).
  • Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecast process by providing inputs to the divisional P&L and cash flow projections, as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in accounting/finance or equivalent experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 3 years of proven experience with budgetary preparation and maintenance in a construction setting.
  • JDE experience would be considered an asset.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced user of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and JD Edwards.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
